RSSssssssssssssssss

Well, I must say it is interesting and pretty easy to do too. Since this is the first time out of the gate for me, my experience is lacking. Just by reading the feeds from the links that I did set up, that I might make use of this as a shopping cart to see what goes on on a site. It surely can lead you all over the place though.



Best of all, I won't have a completely blank look on my face when RSS comes up.

Deleting a comment

Well, I just figured out how to fix a boo-boo. Instead of creating a new post to talk about social networking, I added it as a comment to an earlier post. How to get that to be a post instead of a comment? First I did a copy and paste into a new post - even I figured that out pretty quick. Don't you just love copy and paste? it is the best thing to come....I digress. Now how to get rid of the leftover comment? Leftovers? Put them in the fridge until they are fuzzy, throw in garbage - that's how I do it. By golly, that works for a comment too! I stumbled into Customize, lurched to Posting and landed in Edit Posts. Voila! When you click on the comments by the post and go to the bottom of each comment, there is Guess What?, a GARBAGE CAN! Don'e open the lid of that leftover, just chuck in the garbage! Who woulda thunk it?

Social Bookmarking

I can see where one could get very hooked on del.icio.us and tagging. Once I got the knack of it, posting was so easy! I posted 6 sites today in just a few minutes. I posted Say What? http://sueb-saywhat.blogspot.com/(my own site), archy and mahitabel http://www.donmarquis.com/archy/, Grand Cinema in Tacoma http://www.grandcinema.com/, Washington Wildwatch Cams http://wdfw.wa.gov/wildwatch/,Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville http://www.margaritaville.com/, Olympic Park Institute http://www.yni.org/opi/.I can see where the departments, branches, individuals in the library could use this for info to share. Wouldn't it be neat top have out patrons have a chance to add tips, ideas and yet undiscovered by KRL sites. Social bookmarking is really only limited by the imagination, and we are certainly blessed with lots of that. I look forward to seeing where this takes us. Great fun too!

If you ever get a chance to hear Stephen Abram speak, do it. He is so funny and he is right on about things libraryesque. He is the vp for innovation at SirsiDynix, which is a great fit for him. I have heard him speak at a couple of conferences and even seen him get about 100 library types line dancing at the Wild Horse Saloon ( http://www.wildhorsesaloon.com/ ) in Nashville. Now that was great fun.
I am a list maker from way back, so I get what he says. Now if only I could find the dang list. Don't tell me to save it online, cause it wouldn't be all things to do online, but if I write it out, it will get lost in my paper-challenged world. At any rate, it is a good idea I think and something well worth doing.

In the beginning... I really love the interplay of words - always have. The idea of sharing some of the oddities and delights of language makes sense for me, a newbie at blogging. I though of posting all in webdings, but that went just a little far, even for me. So ends my initial post.
